IPOH: Perak Opposition chief Dr Abdul Aziz Bari thinks that he is the greatest man on earth, says Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.
The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) deputy president said this when asked about Abdul Aziz’s intention to contest the Tambun parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election (GE15).
Ahmad Faizal is the Tambun MP, while Abdul Aziz from DAP is the current Tebing Tinggi assemblyman.
“Abdul Aziz wants to take on everyone. Malaysia is a democratic country; not only Aziz Bari, his wife can also contest together in the election,” the Youth and Sports Minister told reporters after launching the Malaysia Sports League (Kinta district level) here on Sunday (June 5).
On May 27, Aziz Bari had said that the Tambun parliamentary seat does not belong to any Pakatan Harapan party and anyone could throw their name into the ring to contest there.
Abdul Aziz, who has declared his interest in standing there, said in principle, a seat would only belong to one party when its candidate won it.
The state DAP vice-chairman had said that since Ahmad Faizal Azumu had left Pakatan, it was now an “empty” seat.
Ahmad Faizal said it was not a problem for anyone to contest wherever they wished.
He said the only thing that one must keep in mind is that “we must not badmouth people, become too obsessed where unity is at stake, and we must be able to take care of our manners”.
