RM5,000 each to improve teachers’ rooms at Johor schools, says MB

JOHOR BARU: A special allocation of RM5,000 each will be channelled to improve the conditions of all teachers’ rooms statewide, says Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

The Johor Mentri Besar made the announcement in conjunction with Teachers’ Day celebrations at the English College here on Monday (May 16).

“This will involve some 1,775 schools statewide with an allocation of RM8.8mil.

“This allocation is an appreciation to all teachers in the state regardless if they are from primary, secondary, religious, Chinese or Tamil schools,” he said during his visit to English College here.

Onn Hafiz said some 53,000 teachers would benefit from this allocation.

“The teachers can use this to fix the air conditioning, get a microwave oven or even a fridge,” he said, announcing a further RM200,000 for repair works at English College’s hall.

He also paid tribute to the sacrifices of teachers nationwide.

Onn Hafiz added that the English College, built in 1914, was the oldest school in the state.
