Sabah FC fans resort to hooliganism after JDT loss

KOTA KINABALU: Fanatic Sabah football fans who were disappointed with the loss against Johor on Friday’s (July 15) match resorted to bottle throwing and fighting among other embarrassing acts.

There were also some who took down the Johor flag after the match which saw the Sabah Football Club losing 1-2 to Johor Darul Ta’zim FC.

These incidents were recorded and shared widely on various social media platforms including Facebook.

Many net users shamed those involved and said these actions were an embarrassment and showed poor sportsmanship.

Many also called on supporters to calm down and move on from the loss.

In the match, Sabah scored first via Tae Su Park in the 19th minute before JDT scored an equalising goal in the 26th minute through Fernando Forestieri.

Forestieri scored the winner during an injury-time free kick in the second half of the game.

Sabah is still not able to overtake JDT who is currently top of the Malaysia Super League.

Sabah would have been able to take JDT’s spot if it had won Friday’s match.
