Selangor assembly observes minute of silence in honour of late Khalid

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor state assembly sitting observed one minute of silence during Monday’s (Aug 1) session as they paid respects to the late Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

Khalid, who passed away late Sunday night (July 31), had served as Selangor mentri besar from 2008 to 2014.

He won the Ijok state seat in the 2008 General Election, then the Pelabuhan Kelang state seat in the 2013 General Election.

In addition to the one minute of silence, current Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari proposed that the sitting take a break to allow the assemblymen and any interested individuals to pay their last respects to Khalid at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah mosque in Shah Alam.

The motion was agreed to. The sitting took a break from 11.30am until 2.30pm, and is scheduled to resume in the afternoon.
