Semarak Ramadan sales now at 82 Fama outlets

KUALA LUMPUR: The Semarak Ramadan Sales Programme will continue at 82 Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) outlets nationwide.

Fama issued a statement on Saturday (April 2) stating that the 82 outlets, included 62 locations at the farmers’ marketa, 16 locations at the permanent farmers’ markets, two locations at the MyFarm Outlet and two more outlets at Rural Transformation Centres (RTC).

“The Semarak Ramadan @ Pasar Tani Sales Programme include the distribution of dates and entrepreneurial products to visitors as well as happy hour sales of fruit products and a nostalgic breaking fast showcase menu. Donations to orphanages will also be made,” said Fama in a statement.

Earlier, Fama deputy director-general (operations) Abdul Rashid Bahri launched the national-level Semarak Ramadan Sales @ Farmers’ Market programme at the Kelana Jaya farmers’ market in Selangor today to promote the extended operation of the farmers’ market to the public.

The programme was organised to provide the public with basic necessities and food, including quality raw materials at affordable prices in conjunction with Ramadan month.

In the statement, Rashid said the expansion of the scope of the Semarak Ramadan @ Farmers ‘Market Sales Programme was done in appreciation of frequent visitors who purchased produce to usher in the start of Ramadan tomorrow.

Rashid also handed over donations to 50 orphans from the Baitul Hidayah Care Centre at the event.

For the record, the sales value of farmers’ markets nationwide last year amounted to RM170 million while RM42 million in sales was recorded until February 2022, involving 10,868 entrepreneurs at 270 farmers’ market locations nationwide. – Bernama
