Shah Alam mayor confirms MACC raid on MBSA

KUALA LUMPUR: The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) headquarters was raided by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), says Datuk Zamani Ahmad Mansor.

The Shah Alam Mayor confirmed that MBSA had been raided on Monday (Sept 19) when contacted by Sinar Harian on Saturday (Sept 24).

However, he said that he did not have any information regarding the raid made by the MACC on the local authority.

“In terms of the raid by MACC, yes, it is correct. But we do not have a full report of what caused the raid,” he said.

Zamani said that those who wanted to know more should ask the MACC.

“When they entered, they asked for files (documents), we cooperated and gave them what they wanted to see. We are waiting for the report (from MACC) to find out the reason behind the raid and what are the issues, to get a complete picture,” Sinar Harian reported him as saying.

Zamani said that a statement from his side will only be released after the council receives a full report from the MACC.

“We will not issue any statement until we get a full report from the MACC because we do not want it to have a bad impact,” he said.

It was previously reported that a representative from PKR who declined to be named said the MACC raid is believed to be related to a flood mitigation project.
