Smoother entry for visitors from China proposed, says Tourism Minister

SIBU: A smoother entry into the country for tourists from China is being proposed by the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry, says Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing (pic).

“This can also shorten the arrival process,” said the Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister in a Facebook post on Sunday (Jan 8).

He said this can also show that Malaysia is a friendly nation, welcoming travellers from China.

“At the same time, it also takes into account the level of health and safety of travellers from China and removes the concerns of foreign tourists about Malaysia’s move to tighten the SOP at the country’s entrance,” he added.

Tiong then said that his ministry would station its Mandarin-speaking officers at all international airports throughout the country.

He added that this is to help smoothen operations at arrival points, especially for travellers from China who have poor English fluency and do not understand Bahasa Malaysia.

“The ministry will coordinate this effort with international airport management throughout the country and the Royal Malaysian Customs Department,” said Tiong.
