Woman killed in five-vehicle accident in Johor

YONG PENG: A woman died on the spot in an accident involving two container trucks and three cars at KM129 on the northbound lane of the North-South Expressway (NSE).

The Johor Fire and Rescue Department Operation Centre said it received an emergency call on the incident at 5.57pm on Wednesday (Oct 27).

Yong Peng Fire station chief Asyraf Nurbin Mohd Yusoff said 13 firemen from the Yong Peng and Pagoh Fire stations were deployed to the scene.

“The 28-year-old victim has been identified as Ang Zi Yan. She was from one of the cars and was declared dead by the paramedic team from the Health Ministry,’’ Asyraf said in a statement.

He said the victim was trapped in the car while the male driver suffered injuries and received early treatment by the Fire and Rescue paramedic team.

Asyraf said the identity of the car’s driver was not available, adding that the 40-year-old driver of one of the trucks has been identified as Muhamad Azrul Khamis.

He said that Muhamad was injured in the accident while the other driver escaped unhurt, and added that the identity of the second container truck driver has yet to be determined.

Asyraf also said that the drivers of the other two cars involved in the crash – 28-year-old Noor Sulina Mohamadaril and 42-year-old Mohd Faizul Mohd Salleh – both escaped unhurt.

He added that two Fire Rapid Tender (FRT) vehicles and an Emergency Medical Response Services (EMRS) vehicle were used in the operation.

The operation led by senior officer II Mohd Hafiz Othman ended at 8.10pm.
