Caring for the Earth and Co-building Green Rail Transit with CRRC Ziyang

The earth is the place where human beings live. Globally, it has become a consensus to reduce carbon emission and advocate green and low-carbon production and life style.
It is the social responsibility of every rail transit equipment enterprise to protect the environment in which human beings live and create green products. As the pioneer of China’s domestic electric hybrid green locomotive manufacture, CRRC Ziyang Co., Ltd. regards environmental protection as its responsibility and actively responds to the call of building in a way that is ‘resource-saving and environment-friendly’.
Since 2005, CRRC Ziyang Co., Ltd. has began to research and demonstrate the power of locomotive hybrid technology, and committed to providing green, healthy, and comfortable rail transit products for global customers. The Company independently developed new environmental protection products include: hybrid locomotive, new energy air rail, all-electric railcar, etc.
Hybrid locomotives: fuel saving, emission reduction and noise reduction
The HXN6 hybrid locomotive independently developed by CRRC Ziyang Co., Ltd. granted Type Certificate and Production License by the State Railway Administration on August 10, 2020.
It’s power source consists of “power battery pack + diesel generator set”, among which the power battery pack is preferred. At the same time, this type of locomotive also has many advantages such as saving locomotive brake shoes, fast starting acceleration, strong dynamic braking capacity during operation, low noise and pollution. “Fuel saving, emission reduction, noise reduction, very good effect.” The users of China’s steel enterprises highly praised this locomotive. While achieving remarkable results in energy saving, the 1000 kW diesel-battery hybrid locomotive won the “Energy Saving and Emission Reduction Technology Innovation Award” of China.
At present, CRRC Ziyang Co., Ltd. has established a set of hybrid locomotive technology and product platform, which can provide hybrid locomotives of different power level from 200kW to 3000kW, saving fuel consumption by 30% to 50%,reducing harmful emission by 40% to 80%, and reducing the impact time of diesel engine noise by more than 80%, to fully meet the needs of different users.
Hanging monorail train: environmental protection, low noise, small footprint
On December 8, 2016, CRRC Ziyang Co., Ltd. completed the construction of China’s first new energy commercial air train. By integrating 5 mature locomotive technologies, 4 innovative patented technologies and 16 patented technologies, the Company developed a new type of hanging monorail train driven by permanent magnet motor and powered by battery with high reliability, high economy, high adaptability and high safety.
The air train has many advantages such as green environment protection, low noise, high safety performance, less land occupation, good environmental coordination, etc. It is in line with the national requirements of energy saving and emission reduction, green development, and can effectively alleviate urban traffic problems, and its cost is relatively low, about 1/5 to 1/8 of subway, 1/2 to 1/3 of straddle-type monorail. So far, the Company has customized various types of new energy monorail train for many customers, and has been widely recognized by them.
Purely battery-powered railcar: Zero-emission, low-noise, high-economy
On August 22, 2019, CRRC Ziyang Co., Ltd. launched the purely battery-powered railcar, which is another new green rail transit product after the “dual-fuel” locomotive. This new energy railcar has the advantages of low noise, zero emission, high economy, humanized design, active and passive safety protection, and portable charging.
It can effectively replace the traditional diesel railcar and is widely used in railroad track laying and maintenance, industrial and mining enterprises’ public works and electrical operations. The use of the system can reduce the emission of 630 kg of exhaust gas per year, while also effectively reducing energy consumption and maintenance costs, greatly improving the working environment of operators. During the operation of this railcar, the noise of the driver’s cab is less than 70 decibels, which is much lower than that of traditional diesel locomotives, and it can operate quietly in urban areas and at night without affecting the surrounding living environment, which is an environmentally friendly, economic, efficient, clean and safe rail transportation product.
Since its establishment in 1966, CRRC Ziyang Co., Ltd. has always set its eyes on the world and insisted on the road of internationalization, being the pioneer in China to manufacture internal combustion engine products for the world. In 1992, the Company’s diesel locomotive exported to Thailand and became the first commercial locomotive exported from China.
